Rules & General Guidelines

  • Be respectful of this unique environment.
  • Be sensitive to this, possibly new, cultural perspective.
  • Volunteers are expected to dress conservatively.
  • Use of alcohol, tobacco or any recreational drugs within the school premises is strictly prohibited.
  • Any kind of violent activity is not acceptable.
  • Meals will be provided from the common kitchen. Please be on time.
  • The kitchen is restricted to the kitchen staff and hence cooking separate meals or refreshments is not permitted.
  • Food at the school is prepared with a lot of care, so please inform the kitchen staff if you will be absent from meals.
  • Volunteers are not permitted in any case to allow students into their rooms.
  • Volunteers of opposite sexes or couples who are unmarried will not be allowed to share rooms in keeping with the environment and the culture.
  • Guests are not allowed to bring friends or relatives without asking for permission ahead of time.
  • Volunteers are expected to inform a member of the staff if and when they will be away on a day trip or an overnighter so that we are aware of your whereabouts.
  • Volunteers must notify a member of the school administration in case they wish to leave the school premises during working hours to ensure that their absence does not interfere with the schedule.
  • Volunteers are expected to be back at the school by 2100 hrs.
  • In the event of an injury/ illness that may require intervention, please alert a member of the staff.
  • Please be informed that the facilities the monastery provides are basic.
